Accra has become one of the most welcoming long-haul destinations for the wider African diaspora, and for Haitian travelers in particular: Ghana grants visa-free entry to Haitian passport holders for up to 90 days. Delta flies nonstop from JFK in about ten and a half hours; Air France, Royal Air Maroc and Ethiopian offer one-stop options.
Entry requirements
US passport holders need a visa or e-visa obtained in advance from the Ghana embassy or the online portal. Haitian passport holders enter visa-free for 90 days. A yellow fever certificate is mandatory and checked before immigration.
Airports
Kotoka (ACC) Terminal 3 is modern and 10 km from central Accra. Arrive three and a half hours before a US flight; the gate interview adds time.

Best time to fly
December is peak for the diaspora and for the Detty December festival season; book three to five months ahead. February to May and September to November are cheapest. The rainy season is May to July and September to October.
Baggage realities
Delta Main includes two 50 lb bags to Accra; Basic Economy one. Air France Economy Standard and Royal Air Maroc include two 23 kg bags; Ethiopian includes two on US routes.
Safety
Ghana is Level 2, Exercise Increased Caution, mainly for petty crime and road safety. It is one of the calmer countries in the region; usual big-city precautions apply.
Money, SIM cards and getting around
Ghana cedi; ATMs and mobile money (MTN MoMo) everywhere. MTN and Vodafone SIMs at the airport with passport registration. Uber and Bolt work in Accra; airport taxis have a posted rate board.
