JFK to Santo Domingo is the flagship route for New York's Dominican community, the largest outside the DR, and it shows: JetBlue and Delta both fly it nonstop, often multiple times a day, in about four hours. JetBlue departs from Terminal 5 and Delta from Terminal 4. Fares are keenly competitive most of the year and spike hard for Christmas and Semana Santa, when Washington Heights, the Bronx and Corona empty out for the island. When to book
The Dominican Republic is a year-round market: over 10 million passengers flew between the US and the DR in the year to June 2025. Prices rise for Christmas, Semana Santa (Easter week) and July to August. February to early April and September to early November are the sweet spots. Three to six weeks ahead is a good target outside holidays.

Kennedy International is the main international airport for New York and the departure point for Delta's nonstops to Lagos, Accra and Dakar, JetBlue's Caribbean network and Royal Air Maroc to Casablanca. For Haiti it currently offers connections only; the New York nonstop to Cap-Haïtien is at Newark. Brooklyn's Flatbush and East Flatbush, home to the largest Haitian community in the Northeast, are 30 to 60 minutes away.

Las Américas International is the Dominican Republic's capital airport and one of the busiest in the Caribbean, with nonstops to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Newark, Boston and more. It is also a practical staging point for Haiti's north: Santiago and the Dajabón border are three to four hours by road.
Arriving at Santo Domingo
Complete the free electronic entry and exit form at migracion.gob.do before you fly; the QR code is scanned at immigration. The tourist card fee is included in the ticket. Customs uses a random light system; declare cash over $10,000.
Official taxis at the exit charge a set fare to the Zona Colonial and Piantini (about $35 to $45). Uber operates but pickup rules vary; the pickup point is outside the parking area. Caribe Tours and Metro buses to Santiago leave from the city, not the airport.
