AA · US carrier (bound by the FAA order)

American Airlines

American Airlines is the largest US carrier to the Caribbean and the one with the most to say about Haiti in 2026. Its Miami hub handles the bulk of US flights to Cap-Haïtien, Santo Domingo, Santiago, Punta Cana and Kingston, and from November 1, 2026 it starts a daily Miami to Cap-Haïtien service on a 737 MAX 8. American's Port-au-Prince plans remain provisional and depend on the FAA lifting or narrowing NOTAM A0046/26.

Changes and refunds

No change fees on Main Cabin and above for travel originating in the US, the Caribbean or Europe; you pay any fare difference. Basic Economy tickets cannot be changed after the 24 hour window and are worth only their taxes if cancelled. All fares can be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund when booked at least two days before departure. Non-refundable fares cancelled later keep their value as a flight credit valid for one year from issue. When American cancels or significantly delays a flight, you are entitled to a cash refund under US DOT rules.

Notes for Haiti and Caribbean travelers

American cannot fly to Port-au-Prince while FAA NOTAM A0046/26 is in force (through March 2, 2027). Its Cap-Haïtien flight departs Miami at 10:15 am and returns from Cap-Haïtien at 1:15 pm daily from November 1, 2026. Connections from New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando and Montreal route through Miami on one ticket, with bags checked through to Cap-Haïtien. On the way home you clear US immigration and customs in Miami. Check in three hours before departure at Cap-Haïtien; the terminal is small and screening is manual.
