Toussaint Louverture International Airport
Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) is Haiti's main airport and, in normal times, the busiest by far, with nonstops from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Boston, Atlanta and Orlando. Those normal times ended on November 11, 2024, when a Spirit Airlines aircraft was struck by gunfire on approach and the FAA banned US carriers from Haitian airspace. The ban has been narrowed to a band of airspace around Port-au-Prince and renewed every six months since; the current order, NOTAM A0046/26, runs from September 1, 2026 to March 2, 2027 and prohibits US carriers and airmen from operating below 10,000 feet between 18°20'N and 19°10'N, which covers the airport. The airport itself has stayed physically open for domestic flights and occasional foreign operators, but as of September 2026 Sunrise Airways has suspended its own Port-au-Prince flights for security reasons, so there is no scheduled international service we can sell.

Terminal and check-in
The international terminal was renovated in 2016 and is far larger than Cap-Haïtien's, with jet bridges, multiple check-in islands and a proper departures level. None of that is usable for US-bound travel today. If and when the FAA order is lifted or narrowed, American Airlines has said its Port-au-Prince plans are provisional and will depend on that decision; JetBlue and Spirit have made no commitment.
Arrival process
For anyone holding a ticket to Port-au-Prince on a US airline dated before March 2, 2027, the airline owes you a full cash refund because it cancelled the flight; you do not have to accept a voucher. Getting to and from the airport
The State Department's Level 4 Do Not Travel advisory for Haiti (updated July 10, 2026) singles out Port-au-Prince and the roads into it. Jetvala does not arrange ground transport to or from Port-au-Prince and does not recommend the Cap-Haïtien to Port-au-Prince road in 2026.

Watch our Haiti flight status page: it is updated when the FAA publishes a new NOTAM or an airline announces a date. When Port-au-Prince reopens to US carriers, the first weeks will sell out fast; families with flexible dates should hold a Cap-Haïtien booking they can change rather than wait.
