Newark Liberty International Airport

Newark Liberty is New Jersey's international airport and the closest to Jetvala's home in Plainfield. It has the New York area's only nonstop to Cap-Haïtien, on Sunrise Airways, and United's nonstops to Paris, Lagos and Santo Domingo.

Terminal and check-in

Terminal B handles most foreign carriers, including Sunrise Airways and Air France; the rebuilt Terminal A serves JetBlue and American; Terminal C is United's hub. The AirTrain links all three. Terminal B's check-in hall is cramped when two Caribbean flights leave together; arrive three hours ahead for Sunrise.

International arrivals clear immigration in Terminal B or C. Evening waits for visitor passports can run 45 to 90 minutes; Mobile Passport Control is accepted.

Getting to and from the airport

AirTrain to Newark Liberty station for NJ Transit to Penn Station New York (25 minutes) and Newark Penn Station; the Newark Light Rail and buses reach East Orange and the Oranges. Rideshare pickup is at each terminal's designated area.

Tips

Winter mornings are the most delay-prone; a midday Sunrise departure is less exposed to de-icing queues. Long-term parking at P6 with the shuttle is the value option.
