Every Spirit fare includes one personal item (18 x 14 x 8 in) and nothing else. A full-size carry-on costs $40 to $99 depending on when you add it; a first checked bag costs $40 to $99 online and more at the airport, and the checked limit is 40 lb, not 50 lb, so a standard 50 lb suitcase pays an overweight fee. The Go Comfy, Go Big and Go bundles include bags at a better combined price. On the Port-au-Prince route, when it operated, only one checked bag per passenger was guaranteed between December 1 and January 10; expect similar embargoes on any future Haiti service.

Spirit removed change and cancellation fees in 2024; you pay any fare difference and cancellations become a Reservation Credit valid for 12 months. Bag and seat purchases are non-refundable once flown. All bookings can be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours if made at least seven days before departure. Spirit's schedule changes are frequent; when the airline moves your flight by more than two hours you may request a refund.

Spirit does not fly to Haiti as of September 2026. Its Fort Lauderdale to Santo Domingo, Santiago and Punta Cana flights are the cheapest seats to the DR, but only if you travel light or pay for bags at booking. Families with barrels and multiple suitcases usually come out ahead on JetBlue Blue Plus or Caribbean Airlines once bags are counted.
